Today, 6th August, the Royal Foundation is delighted to back the launch of a new film series by the Centre for Early Childhood, which highlights the science underpinning early social and emotional development.

Rooted in the  Shaping Us Framework, the series delves into how experiences from pregnancy to the age of five influence wellbeing, as well as the vital role of nurturing, responsive relationships in building the social and emotional skills that benefit us in later life.

Designed for professionals and volunteers supporting families, the animations are accompanied by additional resources to foster meaningful discussions with parents and carers. Available in Welsh and British Sign Language, the films use hand-drawn linework and papercraft animation to present key ideas in an accessible and captivating way.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, collaborated closely with early years practitioners and illustrators from across the globe during the series’ development. It is now being utilised by more than 20 organisations to aid their work with children and families.

Together, these resources aim to raise public awareness of the importance of early childhood and contribute to a healthier, happier society for generations to come.
