What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee gains valuable experience whilst studying for a formal qualification. Apprentices develop highly sought after knowledge, behaviours and transferable skills (also known as soft skills), such as communication, teamwork and problem solving. An apprenticeship is a great paid work opportunity for people over the age of 16 who are looking to upskill in their current job, looking for a career change.

When can I start an Apprenticeship?

You can enrol onto an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, interested in changing your career or you’re upskilling in your current job. Apprenticeships are open to all ages above 16 years old and can start at any point of the year. To become an apprentice, you must not already be in full-time education and you must live in England. You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.
